Week of July 19, 2016

Terrific Tuesday is July 19th from 10am-1pm at the church. Crafts and game day!

Book Club for the "Cup of Life" study with Kay Dawson starts on July 20th at 9:30am at the church.

Sara Bond will be hosting a paint class on July 20th at 10am in the Fellowship Hall. Please contact the church office to make sure you're signed up!

On July 21st at 10am the Traveling Bunch will leave the Fellowship hall parking lot heading for Livingston Mercantile for lunch and shopping.

Special thank you to Lynn Wiggers for hosting the recent water day for Terrific Tuesday. The children had a wonderful time!

There will be no WOW meals again until August 3rd.

Finance meeting is cancelled for Monday June 20th.

Our guest pastor Sunday 6/19 is Lay Leader, Hal Smith from Columbus FUMC. Vespers will be led by David Casteel. 

Special thank you to the Alford's for hosting the children's swim party last week. What a blast!

Ladies Night Out will be Wednesday June 29th at 6:30 at the church. Tickets are $10 to help cover the cost of food. Please contact the church office or Katy Carter for tickets.

Week of May 15, 2016

WOW Menu: Ham Melts, Pasta Slaw, Dessert. Cost is $4/adult, $2/child, max of $12/family. Dinner starts at 5:30 followed by small groups at 6pm. Please join us!

We honored our graduating seniors this Sunday. Kosciusko High graduation is on May 20th. 

All children are invited to an End-of the-Year party at the home of Hart and Whitney Pettit this Wednesday, May 18th. The children will ride the church bus from the parking lot at 5:30. They will return to the church by 7pm.

Don't forget to register your child or grandchild for day camp by May 22nd. We won't be hosting VBS this year; however, we will have many other summer events-keep your eyes open!

Board of Trustees meeting has been rescheduled to May 9th at 5:30 in the Conference Room.

There will be a Church Council Meeting immediately following today's worship service. There will not be a meal served. Please attend!

A special thank you to Kay, Trish, Terry and Gail for a very successful Ladies Night Out. It was fun for all who attended. Please be on the lookout for more information for the next event. 

A special thank you to everyone who helped with the "Water Station" and the Youth snack table for the Natchez Trace Festival. Both were a great success!

Ernie and Doris Flint welcomed a new grand baby on April 7, 2016! Miles Jakob Bustamante, son of Hillary (Flint) and Allan Bustamante.

We need help with the water station for the Natchez Trace Festival-please contact Terry Jones or Dustin Horne to help out. 

The youth will also be selling lunch at the Natchez Trace Festival. Please make plans to support them during this event.

Week of April 10, 2016

We started the new WOW Small Groups last Wednesday. Please join us! You'll be able to hop right in if you missed this first week. We'd love to have you!

Menu for this week's WOW Fellowship: pizza pasta casserole, green beans and dessert. The cost is $4/adult, $2/child, max of $12/family. 

There will be a Ladies Night Out on April 26th at Kay Dawson's home. The topic is "Flowers of the Bible". Bring a plant to swap and come and enjoy a nice meal and fellowship.

Thursday April 14th, the Attala County Cluster will have prayer at Buffalo UMC.

Newsletter updates for the month of May are due by Friday April 15. Please have your updates to the church office by then.

The youth will be going to see "God's Not Dead 2" today. They are leaving the church parking lot Sunday April 10th at 1:00pm. The whole congregation is welcome to come along. Bring money for your ticket and gas!

On Friday, April 15th, the youth will be attending the concert by Third Day and Steven Curtis Chapman. Be at the church parking lot at 4:00pm ready to leave. Please bring money for you supper.

There will be a prayer rally on the steps of the Capital in Jackson, MS on April 13, 2016 at 12:00pm, led by Franklin Graham.

The next ABIDE retreat is Saturday April 16th in Oxford. The ABIDE group will be leaving the church parking lot early Saturday morning. Contact Evelyn Cayson for info.

Our church has been asked to participate in the Natchez Trace Festival events on April 30th. Plans are being made to have a water station and the youth will have a snack booth. Volunteers are needed for both. Call Terry or Dustin to sign up for the event.

First Small Groups of this season start back Wednesday April 6 at 6:00pm (following the WOW Meal). Please join us and pick a small group to attend. There are lots of options available (see last week's post for more detail about study specifics).

On Sunday April 17th, 2016 from 2:00-3:00 pm, please join us in the church parlor for a tea celebrating the marriage of Jay Battles and Catherine Grace Higgs. The whole congregation is invited to attend.

 

Easter Week 2016!

HE IS RISEN!  HE IS RISEN INDEED!

What a week! Thank you all so much for the work and support of the entire congregation during the 31st production of "His Last Days". This is another way the family of FUMC comes together to share the beautiful story of salvation through Jesus Christ. 

Reminder: The church office will be closed Monday March 28th, 2016.

We will resume our WOW meetings this Wednesday evening. Our dinner begins at 5:30. This week's menu: Meatball casserole, marinated green beans, bread and dessert. The cost is $4 Adult, $2/child, max of $12/family.

We will also be starting back with WOW Prayer Meeting this week. Beginning Wednesday April 6th, we will have 3 different small groups-please join us!

Week of March 20, 2016

Passion Play set up continues today at 1:00pm and rehearsal begins at 2:00pm. All cast should be in attendance. Rehearsals will be Monday and Tuesday with dinner at 6:00pm. Followed by dress rehearsal (no makeup). The performances will be on the same schedule (dinner at 6:00pm, performance at 8:00pm). Everyone is welcome and needed! If you haven't found a spot to assist, please come and join us--there's plenty to be done!

No Vespers or WOW this month.

The Egg Hunt will be at Lynn Wiggers' house on Saturday March 26th at 10:00am. Youth should be there an hour prior to prepare for the children's arrival. Children should bring their own basket. Eggs will be provided, as well as snacks.

Don't forget to bring in your coin box for the Society of St. Andrews. These can be brought to the church office at any time. 

 

Week of March 13, 2016

There will be NO WOW services this Wednesday or the following (3/16 or 3/23). WOW will resume on Wednesday March 30th.

There will be NO Vespers this month.

We will be celebrating Palm Sunday on March 20th. All children are invited to participate in the procession. Whitney Pettit and Christy Cheek will be organizing this if you have any questions.

The youth will be hosting our annual Easter egg hunt on Saturday March 26 at 10am. Please contact the office for more information.

We are excited to welcome into our church family Pat, Carol, Wade and William Fiedler and Mrs. Dot Harmon.  Both families come by transfer of letter into our membership.

Several youth attended the “Gathering” this weekend in Jackson. This event had around 1200 youth from all over Mississippi.  Chaperones for this event were Br. Scott and  Denise Wright, and Dustin Horne.

The children choir, under the direction of Pat Fiedler, blessed the congregation with their special music last Sunday.  Eli Franklin on drums, along with Mr. Ernie Flint, and Mr. Thad Harrell, on guitar, accompanied the choir.   Also, a special thank you for Ernie and Thad for their special music during Communion last week. 

Attention all men:  There will be a “Venison and other Wild Things” meal hosted by Terry Culpepper on March 1, 6:00 pm at his home.  Make plans now to attend this event.  All men are invited.

If you would like to be on the schedule to provide the treats for early morning “Hospitality”, please give Terry a call. Also, helpers are needed on Sunday morning for the Nursery and substitute teachers.

Church Council will meet March 6, at 11:15 for a lunch and business meeting.  If you are on the council, please attend

We've had a ton of children attending WOW on Wednesday night! This is great news! We're so excited to have the opportunity to share God's love with these children. If you'd like to volunteer to help out during this time, please let Terry Jones know-you are needed! Also, we have a need for a few more nursery volunteers. We've had several new additions to our church family and will soon need a few more hands helping out on Sunday mornings!

Thank you all for supporting our youth during their most recent fund raiser. They raised over $800 which will help them in participating in future activities. THANK YOU!!

There are Lenten devotion books along with coin boxes from the Society of St. Andrew. Please feel free to grab one of each and take home with you.
